East Side Boxing Exclusive! Vargas-Mayorga Fight Is Off!

fernando vargas25.08.07 - By John Howard: It's official. The Vargas-Mayorga showdown on September 8th (SHOWTIME PPV) is off. Robert Ferguson (Vargas' nutritionist & conditioning coach) has just verified the official reason exclusive to East Side Boxing writer John Howard. Vargas was feeling lethargic during training and saw a doctor. Below is a statement from Ferguson for the official reason for the cancellation of this highly anticipated bout:

"In short, the doctor says he has sores on his stomach and as a result his blood is a little low and advises him not to fight in 2 weeks. Further, based on what the doctor is saying, we would have to reduce training intensity and that's not good when you have 2 weeks to go and we are looking at a 12 round fight." (More details as they come in).
