AAPRP Annouces 2007 Award Recipients

Darien, Connecticut – August 27, 2007 – The American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians (AAPRP) announced today the 2007 AAPRP Award Recipients. They are as follows.:

Ringside Physician of the Year – Dr. Richard Weinstein
New York State Ringside Physician
Administrator of the Year – Mr. Michael Mazzulli
Mohegan Sun - Department of Athletic Regulations (Director)
Outstanding Contribution to Boxing – Mr. Teddy Atlas
Atlas Foundation and ESPN Friday Night Fights Analyst
Distinguished Educator of the Year – Dr. John Stiller
Ringside Medicine Researcher – Washington, DC
Lifetime Achievement Award – Mr. Muhammad Ali
Former Boxer, Founder - Muhammad Ali Institute for Peace and Justice
Media Award – Mr. Brian Kenny
Boxing Analyst – ESPN
Meritorious Service Award – Patrick J. Sullivan COL, MC
Ringside Physician and Iraq Serviceman

These awards will be presented on Friday, November 16, 2007 at the AAPRP’s Annual Medical Seminar at the Intercontinental San Juan Resort & Casino in Puerto Rico.

Established in 1997, the AAPRP was created to develop medical protocols and guidelines to ensure the safety and protection of professional boxer. The not-for-profit association is comprised of experienced ringside physicians from around the world who are dedicated to the medical aspects of the sport of boxing. Since its inception, the AAPRP has consistently grown to include physicians from around the globe who are working together toward a common goal of helping to ensure the health, safety and protection of professional boxers.
