Dominick Guinn Injures Eye In Sparring; May Pull Out of Nov. 22nd Fight!

08.11.03 - by Carlos “Stiff-jab” Kalinchuk: The Derrick Banks (20-10-1) versus Dominick Guinn fight (23-0) may now be in jeopardy after a sparring session this morning resulted in thumb to the eye of Heavyweight Dominick Guinn. The eye immediately began to swell badly and the sparring and workout was called to a halt.

Ironically Dominick was scheduled to have his eyes examined by the Texas Boxing Commission on Monday as is customary before a fighter is allowed to fight. He’s pupils will be dilated so the full extent of the damage could be assessed. Hopefully by then all will be well and he’ll be able to fight. He is scheduled to fight on the Main Events card featuring Juan Diaz, Rocky Juarez, and Panchito Bojado here (in Houston) on November 22. Dominick was going to be featured on the un-televised portion of the bout. We will update you as soon as we know more.
