Cuadrilátero, Ricardo Torres' Promoter: "The Referee Should Have Stopped The Fight When Holt Was Severely Hit The First Time"
(WBO super lightweight boxing champion Ricardo Torres, on right side, moments before knocking down challenger Kendall Holt with a left hook in the 11th round on September 1st) Cuadrilátero, Ricardo Torres’s co-promoter and organizer of the September 1 WBO Junior Welterweight championship at the "Centro de Eventos JUMBO" in Barranquilla, between Ricardo "Mochuelo" Torres and Kendall Holt, summarily declares that the bout took place normally and according to the world’s most strict boxing rules and norms.

The environment never turned dangerous, as Kendall Holt and his representatives seemed to imply to the press when they arrived to Miami last Sunday. They merely misinterpreted and confused an emotional and excessive joy display of the crowd that watched how his champion, after being closely behind in the scorecards, turned the fight over in round eleven and knocked down Holt. He was in a very bad shape and the referee acted wisely stopping the fight.
Colombian boxing experts, who watched the fight live in the JUMBO saloon and videos in slow motion afterwards, declared that the referee, North American Genaro Rodríguez, should even have stopped the fight when Holt was severely hit the first time and all indicated that he was already knocked out. Even though Holt received a second chance, the referee decided to stop the fight because he was severely damaged by Mochuelo’s hands.
Ever since Kendall Holt and his team arrived to Barranquilla, they received friendship, affection, respect, and recognition of his skills and talent, as the outstanding boxer he is. His stay in the city was so warm that on several occasions they expressed intentions to return with family and friends on vacation time. To confirm all this, the musical theme he chose to get on the ring was "En Barranquilla me quedo" (In Barranquilla I stay) by famous singer and composer Joe Arroyo.
Cuadrilátero acknowledges Holt’s qualities and skills as one of the best boxers in the Junior Welterweight division, but it is also sure that it has in its boxer, Ricardo Torres, a great champion capable –as he showed- of turning over a result with courage, bravery, and tremendous shape.
