Fewer Than 5,000 Tickets Remaining For July 24 Gatti-Dorin Bout

02.06.04 – Arturo Gatti’s staggering popularity with sports fans continues to prove itself daily. Today, at 2:00 pm ET, tickets for his July 24 world title defense against Leonard Dorin went on sale to the general public. One hour later at 3:00 pm ET, Bally’s Atlantic City President Ken Condon contacted Main Events CEO Kathy Duva to inform her that there are now fewer than 5,000 tickets remaining for purchase by the public.

“Arturo Gatti gives the public what they want, which is action”, said Duva. “People swarm the box office when he fights because they want to witness one of his legendary performances in person. If it’s incredible to watch on television, it’s even more amazing in person.”

In the July 24 main event at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ, “the human highlight film” Arturo Gatti (37-6, 28 KOs) returns to the ring to defend his WBC super lightweight crown in a 12 round bout against No. 1 contender Leonard Dorin (22-0-1, 8 KOs). In the 10 round co-feature bout, Francisco “Panchito” Bojado (16-1, 11 KO’s), the WBC Continental Americas and IBA junior welterweight champion, will battle former world champion “Jesse” James Leija (46-6-2, 19 KOs).

The evening of boxing will be presented by Main Events in association with DiBella Entertainment and InterBox and hosted by Bally’s Atlantic City and Caesars Atlantic City. It will take place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and be broadcast on HBO’s World Championship Boxing beginning at 9:30 PM ET/6:30 PM PT.
