The second libel action was against Random House for defamatory allegations in the book Ricky Hatton: The Hitman, My Story written by Niall Hickman. In the book it stated that Warren had mislead Vince Phillips about the sale of television right for his fight against Hatton which has been found to be untrue.
Warren has received an apology and damages are to be agreed. The book has also been pulped and withdrawn from sale.
This is one part of a longer action against Random House that is ongoing.
The third libel victory saw Warren win substantial damages and an apology from the BBC Greater Manchester Radio in relation to an interview that Ray Hatton, father of IBF World Light-Welterweight Champion Ricky, did in September 2005.
In the interview, Ray suggested that Warren had acted dishonestly and deviously in claiming to have agreed a three-fight deal with Ricky and attempting to hoodwink both Ricky and himself into believing that one had been agreed. The interview also claimed Warren had been disloyal to Ricky even though Ricky had taken a fight at very short notice, against advice and at some risk to himself, as a favour to Warren.
These allegations were defamatory of Warren, damaging to him in his profession and very distressing.
Promoter Frank Warren said, "I am delighted that all these allegations have proved to be untrue."
