Griffin is ready for Sturm

For two weeks Randy Griffin has been preparing in arena’s gym in Hamburg for his fight on October 20th in Halle/Westfalen (Germany) against WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm. Now the “Gentleman” is ready to go: “I can’t wait to step into the ring. My sparring with Alpaslan Agüzüm and Kofi Jantuah was great. I am going to blow away Sturm..

Regardless of what happens inside the ring there might be a thunder-storm coming in at the ringside. Griffin’s management would like to see arena-CEO Ahmet Öner sitting in the first row. But Öner is barred from all Universum events.

Öner: “I think it’s reasonable that they want to see me at the ringside. I got an arrangement with Griffin’s manager, I participate in the profit and I was involved in the purse bid which guaranteed a very good purse for both fighters. In addition to that Randy might stay with arena if he wins the belt…”

That makes Griffin vs. Sturm the first duel between Hamburg based promoters Öner and Klaus-Peter Kohl. The challenger’s team is very self-confident regarding the result.

Byron Ogelsby: “We know that challenging a German world champion in Germany we won’t get any help from the judges. That’s why we came here for a clear decision. We want to do Ahmet a favour and knock out Universum’s ‘golden boy’!”

Öner: “I just want to see a good fight with a fair decision. Of course, a knockout is always best because it leaves no room for discussions. May the best man win!”
