Juan Diaz Bullies Julio Diaz to Unify Lightweight Titles
13.10.07 - By Sean Ocampo: It was a dominant performance coming from WBA/WBO Lightweight Champion Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz as he imposed his relentless style to stop International Boxing Federation Lightweight Champ Julio "Kidd" Diaz during their unification fight at the Sears Centre in Chicago, Illinois. Juan unified his World Boxing Association/World Boxing Organization Titles along with IBF Title with his dominant performance..

Juan's aggressiveness and straight forward style caused serious problems to Julio right from the opening bell. Julio tried numerous strategies to stop Juan on his tracks, but he was unsuccessful. Julio constantly switched from orthodox to southpaw to confuse Juan, but it is proven ineffective to the charging Juan. Julio also tried to establish his long jab and tried to counterpunch Juan in middle of the ring.
However, Juan's relentless style has proven to be too much for him to handle, as Juan broke Julio down with debilitating body shots. The end came during 9th round when Julio quit on his stool.
During the post fight interview, Juan openly challenged Manny Pacquiao. As we all know, Pacquiao dominated another Mexican legend, Marco Antonio Barrera, last week. Diaz is luring Pacquiao to move-up and fight him in big money fight.
The future is bright for young Juan Diaz. If he is unsuccessful in getting a fight with Manny Pacquiao, he still has a lot of options. He could fight Joel Casamayor or David Diaz in unification fights or even move-up in weight. Diaz is indeed one of the most exciting fighters to watch right now and he is also slowly carving his way to greatness.
