Johanneson, Gomez Weigh-In For Tonight's British Title Clash
19.10.07 - British super featherweight boxing champion Carl Johanneson came face to face with fiery ex-British titlist Michael Gomez yesterday at the Rockingham Arms Hotel in Doncaster, England as the pair weighed in before tonight's Frank Maloney promotion at the Doncaster Dome.

Gomez, 34-7 (24), was a man possessed, yelling at Johanneson, 26-3 (18), that the title which Gomez never lost in the ring would be his for the taking while the calm, collected British champion simply laughed it off.
The Leeds based Johanneson and the Manchester based Gomez both tipped the scales at 129.5 lb, easily making the super featherweight limit on the first try. Gomez holds a win over European champ Leva Kirakosyan, who has knocked out Johanneson on two occasions.
Promoter Frank Maloney and Gomez's trainer Bobby Rimmer were again hard pressed to keep the two combatants from engaging in hostilites before their clash tonight.
The chief support fighters John "Fireball" Fewkes, 15-0 (2), and Gary Reid, 13-17-1 (8), also were weighed with Fewkes tipping the beam at 137 lb and Reid came in at 136.5 lb.
