Bute Stops Berrio In The 11th Round

lucian bute20.10.07 - By Matthew Hurley: Lucian Bute, 21-0 with 17 KOs won the International Boxing Federation super middleweight title after stopping Alejandro Berrio, 26-5 with 25 KOs in the 11th round at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Bute, from Romania now residing in Quebec, positioned Berrio, from Colombia into a corner, measured his man and then connected with an uppercut that stunned Berrio.

Bute then landed several unanswered punches before the referee called a halt to the bout. Berrio was making the first defense of his title, which he won in March of this year when he knocked out Robert Stieglitz.
