Haussler vs Sanavia on Abraham Undercard

Danilo Haussler is eager to win back the title he held for almost three years when he clashes with European super-middleweight champion Cristian Sanavia next month. The duo will battle it out on the Abraham undercard in Basle on December 8. History is clearly favouring the 32-year-old German who already clinched a close majority decision over his Italian opponent in July 2005. "Im thrilled to get this chance," Haussler said..

"It will be a very close fight. Its a good feeling to have beaten him once but I wont take him lightly just because of my win." Much on the contrary - Haussler is full of respect for Sanavia. "I know about his strengths. He has shown his potential in June 2004 when he defeated WBC champion Markus Beyer and also fought well against a lot of top-name opponents", Haussler said.

Sanavia (40-3, 12 KOs) lost his WBC belt to Beyer in a rematch but won the European title with a split decision verdict over David Gogiya on June 1, 2007. Haussler (29-3, 7 KOs) reigned as European champion from January 2001 to October 2003 when Mads Larsen deprived him of his belt. He fell to Rudy Markussen in a fight for the vacant EBU title in 2004 but has won six of his last seven bouts. "I was the European champion for almost three years," Haussler stated. "That was a great time and I want to add to that. If I am as concentrated as in the first fight against Sanavia, I have very good chances of winning again." Haussler vowed not to take his opponent lightly. "Sanavia is always working and always moving," he added. "It will be tough."
