Paul Williams Breaks Down Mosley-Cotto

mosley cottoPhoto by Chris Farina - Top Rank -- LOS ANGELES, November 8 – Unbeaten IBF welterweight champion Paul ‘The Punisher’ Williams will be intently observing Saturday nights Miguel Cotto vs. Shane Mosely event when one of the upcoming high-profile bouts in the 147-pound division take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

“I’ll definitely be watching the Miguel Cotto-Shane Mosley and Antonio Margarito-Golden Johnson fights so I can see who'll be on my list to fight next year,” said Williams, who not only won the WBO world title on July 14th with an action-packed victory over Margarito, but showed who is now the "most feared man in the welterweight division." “I’m ready to get back in there right now, and watching these fights will just get me more pumped up for my return..

In the main event, Miguel Cotto defends his WBA welterweight title against Shane Mosley in a highly anticipated matchup.

“Hopefully it will be a good fight and will give the fight fans what they came to see,” said Williams. “Shane’s a fast starter, so I see him getting rounds early while Cotto walks him down and finishes strong. No matter who wins though, I want the winner so we can unify the belts.”

On the Cotto-Mosley undercard, Williams’ old nemesis Margarito will look to get back in the title picture with a win over seasoned veteran Golden Johnson.

“I've been in the ring with Margarito so I know by experience that he’s a strong fighter,” said Williams. “But it's not his style to come out strong so he will probably be cautious in the beginning and pick things up in the later rounds. I believe Margarito has the edge here, but Johnson’s a veteran, so you can’t count him out.”

Said Dan Goossen, "No matter who wins these fights, its time for the best to fight the best. As my good friend Bob Arum pointed out so well earlier this year, we need to stop the business fights."

"The Punisher" will be back in the ring in early 2008 ready to begin taking one welterweight championship title after another.
