The action began immediately when Bika (25-3-2, 15 KO) knocked Codrinton (18-2, 14 KO) down in the early seconds of the first round. Codrington arose and a wild slugfest quickly ensued in which Codrington returned the favor by catching Bika with a sharp left hook sending him to the canvas just moments after the first knockdown. The rest of the round it seemed that Bika had trouble just staying on two feet.
Round after round, you got the feeling that neither fighter would be able to finish. Each was a wild slugfest filled with powerful shots, heart, and determination with the sixth ending with both fighters trading shots after the bell. Finally, at 2:18 of the eighth round, Bika hit Codrington with several flush shots while Codrington was against the ropes. Codrington staggered along the ropes after getting caught with a few more blows and at one point turning his back to the action, causing the referee to stop the fight at that time.
The fight more than lived up to what was anticipated. It was a battle the will go down in the annals of boxing.
