Chavez Jr. Destroys Sanchez In 6th Round! Arce Stops Singsurat In 1st round KO!

julio cesar chavez jr.01.12.07 - By Jeff Bastasini: Undefeated Light middleweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (34-0-1, 27 KOs) fought impressively tonight, stopping Ray Sanchez (20-2) in the 6thth round at the Tinsley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Chavez, 21, the son of the famous Julio Cesar Chavez, came right at Sanchez from the opening round, electing to fight him in a brawling fashion and disregarding any thought of defense. Chavez Jrís body shots clearly bothered Sanchez, who finally dropped to the canvas under a barrage of punches in the 6th round.

The fight was stopped at 1:33 of the 6th round. Chavez Jr., like in his other bouts in his short professional career, took a lot of head shots from Sanchez in the process of stopping him. Both fighters tended to load up with their shots as they tried to take each other out in the early rounds.

In the 3rd round, Sanchez was bleeding from the nose, no doubt, from having taken one of Chavez Jrís big hooks. In the sixth round, Chavez landed a perfect right hand that stunned Sanchez. Not to waste the opportunity, Chavez unloaded with a flurry of shots, sending Sanchez to his knees, badly hurt.

Former flyweight/Super flyweight champion Jorge Arce (49-4-1, 37 KOs) destroyed his opponent Medgoen Singsurat (48-6, 34 KOs) with one punch in the first round to end it after forty-eight seconds of the round. Arce, 28, hadnít looked good since being soundly beaten by Cristian Mijares in April 2007, wasted little time with Singsurat as he tagged him with a powerful left hook to the body which dropped him for the count.
