Odlanier Solis vs Frans Botha on Dec 23
It will be a hard piece of work for arena’s "heavyweight sensation" Odlanier Solis. On December 23rd the Olympic gold medallist and three-times World Amateur Champion faces Francois Botha from South Africa. “The White Buffalo” is one of the most experienced heavyweights around. He lost only four of his 52 fights, and all of them were World Championship bouts against the best of the business: Wladimir Klitschko, Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson and Michael Moorer.

In 1995 Botha beat Axel Schulz for the vacant IBF World Championship but tested positive on steroids and was stripped of the title shortly after.
After joining K1 for 12 fights between 2003 and 2007, Botha gave his comeback in the boxing ring in July by clearly decisioning Bob Mirovic from Australia. For Solis, the clash with Botha is only his 6th pro-fight.
Manager Ahmet Öner: “This will be the next real tough test for Solis. I always said that we don’t need a slow build-up for him. He will beat Frans Botha and proceed his way to the top fast. This fight is the next important step on his way to become undisputed World Heavyweight Champion.”
The co-main event of arena’s show in Halle’s Maritim Hotel features local hero Steffen Kretschmann (10-0-0) who takes on Turhan Altunkaya for the German Interim Heavyweight Championship. Also on the card: Former World Heavyweight Champion Herbie Hide and unbeaten prospects Konstantin Airich, “Mini-Tyson” Selcuk Aydin, Tino Groß, Edmund Gerber, Sebastian Sonntag and Yakup Saglam. The show will start at 6:30 p.m., Eurosport (German window) will broadcast the LIVE from 9:00 p.m. on. Tickets are available on www.arenaboxpromotion.com.
