Kermit Cintron Challenges Margarito!

antonio margaritoKermit Cintron announced today his desire to avenge his only professional loss by calling out Antonio Margarito. Cintron, who lost to Margarito in April of 2005, is ready to fight Margarito now! Right now, Im a world champion and hes not. If he thinks hes the best, come and get my belt. I have it and hes saying he wants itso lets get it on.

Insisting that he simply was not ready for the previous fight against Margarito, Cintron is done making excuses. I was coming off a 9 month layoff, hand surgery, and had only 4 weeks to prepare. Im not going to make any more excuses, but I know that fight was a fluke. When I fight Margarito again, the fight will once again end in a knockout. Only this time, it will be Margarito lying on the canvas."

2008 A Big Year

Cintron also discussed his plan to unify the welterweight division. I plan on having all 4 belts, the IBF champion declared. In order to do that hell need to beat Mayweather, Cotto and Williams. Of the current belt holders, the guy Id want first is Cotto. Hes another champion from Puerto Rico, but I know that Im the top Puerto Rican fighter. While I respect him as a champion, I know what the result will be. Like the others, hell be wondering what hit him. While its still not clear who Cintron will battle next, one thing is clear, 2008 is going to be big.

Kermit Cintron was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico on October 22, 1979. Currently the IBF Welterweight Champion, Cintron stands 511 and has a 72 reach. He resides in Wyomissing, PA and trains with the legendary Emanuel Steward of the world famous Kronk Gym. His professional record is 29 wins, 1 loss, and 0 draws with 27 of the 29 wins by way of knockout.
