Holt Decisions Tackie, Martirosyan Stops Munoz In Las Vegas
By Matt Yanofsky: Former World Boxing Organization title challenger Kendall "Rated R" Holt 23-2 (12 KO's) scored a majority decision over the always tough Ben Tackie 28-9-1 (17 KO's). Holt was able to land clean shots in sports but unfortunately, there were some periods of little action. The always tough Tackie showed his famed iron chin and was able to walk through many of Holt's power shots. Tackie was only able to land 58 punches in the ten round contest. scores were an unexplainable 95-95 and 98-92 twice for Holt.
2004 Olympian and rising junior middleweight star Vanes Martirosyan improved to 19-0 (13 KO's) with a third round destruction over Michi Munoz 20-2 (13 KO's). Martirosyan went to work immediately, dropping Munoz in the opening round with a straight right hand. The free swinging and much shorter Munoz had little luck in landing his haymakers. Martirosyan continued to tee off during the second round landing almost at will. Martirosyan dropped Munoz twice, and possibly broke his nose before referee Kenny Bayless stopped the bout 2:20 into the third round.
