Boxer Pawel Wolak Media Workout

Notes from the February 27th media workout of undefeated junior middleweight Pawel Wolak, 19-0 (13 KOS). It was held at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, NY, where Wolak is preparing for his March 15th fight against southpaw Dupre “Total Package” Strickland, 18-2-1 (7 KOS) at Madison Square Garden’s WaMu Theater. The 26-year-old Wolak is a native of Debica, Poland, who fights out of New Jersey..

Pawel Wolak: “I train so hard because I want everything to go perfectly on March 15th. I put in my time at the gym, so I expect to get something good out of my career. I love the hard work. I love fighting and testing myself. When I walk down the aisle to the ring at MSG, my fans will go crazy. There will be chaos. But I handle pressure well. Pressure pushes me and motivates me. I perform best under pressure. It makes me fight harder.”

Trainer Patrick Ford: “Fighting in America and fighting in Poland are two different things. Paul is a fighter, not a boxer. He’s shorter than most of his opponents and doesn’t have a long enough reach to be a boxer. Trying to make him a boxer would be a mistake. He’s a natural fighter; he’s built like a fighter and fights like a fighter.”

Strength & Fitness coach Farrel Brenner: “My job is to enhance Pawel’s natural abilities and make him more explosive. We are working to convert all of his strength into power. He is the ideal client. He’s got the kind of drive and determination that makes him unbeatable. Fighting at the Garden is like a dream come true for him.”

Manager Ivan Edwards: “When Pawel and I started working together, he told me he had four dreams: to fight in Atlantic City, Poland, MSG and Chicago. The first two have come true, and the third will come true on March 15th. This is a very big night for Pawel, from both a personal and professional standpoint. This will set the stage for the rest of his career.”

Girlfriend Heather Medo: “I’m very proud of Pawel and support him 100 percent. I don’t worry about him being hurt because he does everything he has to do to prevent that from happening. He is so dedicated, I don’t even think of him losing. He’s living his dream, pursuing it full throttle, so I’m very excited for him.”
