Sam vs. Skelton to be held in Turkey

ARENA Box-Promotion won today’s purse bid for the European heavyweight championship between former title holder Sinan Samil Sam and Matt Skelton who recently lost a close decision to WBA champion Ruslan Chagaev. Ahmet Öner outbid Skelton’s promoter Frank Warren.

Öner: “I am very happy that this won purse bid gives me the chance to hold the fight in Turkey where Sinan is a national hero. We will have a huge show there in front of a fanatic sold-out crowd. I am sure that the Turkish fans will help Sinan recapture ‘his’ European title.”

The date for the show isn’t set yet. The fight will not be held on April 25th when ARENA’s welterweight prospect Selcuk Aydin faces Lucky Lewele for the WBC international championship in Trabzon.

Öner: “Instead of one we will have two big shows in Turkey coming up. The Turkish public is definitely fired up for professional boxing. And we will bring them great fights.”
