It's no surprise that the highly-prized Green Belt of the WBC should be the inaugural trophy of "History In Cancun" as the top boxing organization on the planet has paired with the most successful promoter in the sport, Don King Productions, to make it all happen.
Joining King and WBC President Don Jose Sulaiman in the vacation hotspot of Cancun last night were none other than decorated former champions Thomas Hearns, Gerry Cooney and Larry Holmes as well as heavyweight contender Nickolai Valuev and with such stars as Roberto Duran, Ken Norton and Saoul Mamby already on hand, it's a massive event by any measurement.
A full undercard supports the main event and features the WBC super lightweight title eliminator between Jose Luis Castillo and Timothy Bradley, a WBC heavyweight qualification bout between John Ruiz and Jameel McCline and the WBA, IBF and WBO lightweight title fight between champion Juan Diaz and challenger Nate Campbell.
