Beyer: “To fight Roy Jones, jr. would be a great honour!”

Today’s ARENA press conference in Munich should have been about Markus Beyer’s comeback fight against Murat Mahmudov from Russia. But the main focus was on the possible clash with US-superstar Roy Jones, jr.

“Of course, it would be a great honour to fight Jones”, stated Beyer. “Especially as nobody ever thought he could come to fight in Germany. But Ahmet Öner seems to be the man who can make it happen. I always said that I wanted to come back for one more big fight. What I had in mind was a chance to win the world title a fourth time. But of course, a bout against Roy Jones, jr. would be fantastic as well.”

In the co-main event of Friday night’s big show Cuban Olympic heavyweight champion Odlanier Solis takes on Cisse Salif from Las Vegas.

Solis: “This is another good test for me and hopefully another step on my way to the top. I want to become world champion as soon as possible. I always wanted to compete at the highest possible level.”

Decubas work for ARENA in the USA

At today’s press conference it was also declared that Luis and Ricardo Decubas work for Ahmet Öner and ARENA Box-Promotion in the USA. The Decubas brothers are involved in the operative boxing business and organize shows on behalf of ARENA and Ahmet Öner in the United States.
