Ricardo Torres Vs Kendall Holt Part II “The Rematch”
04-01-08. Jaime Alberto Castro Núñez - Barranquilla, Colombia. Colombian promoter Billy Chams confirmed today that WBO Light Welterweight champion Ricardo “Mochuelo” Torres of Magangué will be making his third title defense against No.2-ranked Kendall Holt of Patterson. The bout has been scheduled for July 5 in Las Vegas, NV. Torres, who knocked Holt out in their first encounter last September 1, 2007, at Country Club’s Salón Jumbo in Barranquilla, Colombia, has three months to probe that his victory over Holt came out as a result of a clean left hook. Holt, likewise, has the same amount of time to train and to show who the true champion is.
“Mochuelo has ninety days to get in shape and knock Holt out once again. Now he’ll be more confident because he already knows Kendall’s style,” said Billy Chams. “I’ll be even more prepared for this rematch. I hope he won’t be running away this time. I expect him to fight, not to run as he did in Barranquilla. I’ll defeat him in Las Vegas, so it won’t be any doubt that I’m the better of the two,” pointed out Ricardo Torres after knowing the name of his rival.
Ricardo Torres has been training in Barranquilla under the supervision of Orlando Pineda, 63, and former Olympian boxer Álvaro Mercado.
