The main event featured the undefeated WBO light flyweight champion, Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon, of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, who successfully defended his title against the veteran Nelson “Fuegete” Dieppa of Vieques, Puerto Rico. Calderon demonstrated that he had too much speed and boxing skills for Dieppa to handle. Dieppa, who comes off a TKO victory over Alex “El Nene” Sanchez over a month ago, was outboxed, outpunched and outwitted by Calderon..
“Iron Boy” showcased boxing skills that he had not before, and proved that he is one of the best boxers pound for pound, at only five feet tall. Whenever he decided to stand in the middle of the ring and exchange punches with Dieppa, he did it in a way that Dieppa barely touched him, and when Calderon decided to box, his speed allowed him to punch Dieppa at will. The score cards told the story, with all three judges scoring the bout 120-108, giving Calderon the unanimous decision. This way Calderon keeps his perfect record with 31 victories, 6 of those by way of knockouts. Dieppa sees his hopes of regaining the light flyweight title vanished and, as he puts it, will go home and “rest” with a professional record of 25-5-2 (14 KOs).
