David Obregón Fights in Miami on April 11

08.04.08 - Jaime Castro-Núñez- Miami, FL. Central-American prospect David Obregón (12-3-0, 7 KO´s) is eager to return to the boxing arena this coming Friday, April 11th, in a middleweight bout that will be featured on the undercard of Edgar Santana and Josesito López at the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming in Miami, Florida. Originally from Chontales, Nicaragua, Obregón now fights out of Miami..

Obregón, who trains under the tutelage of Roberto Quesada and Mario Santamaría at Miami Fight gym, emphatically stated last Saturday that “I’m ready for anything,” while castigating the punching bag with a straight right hand. The 29-year-old Nicaraguan, who lost to Sergio García last August 24 via majority decision, is willing to show to the public what he learned from that defeat. “I just want to get into the ring and fight, I’m ready, I’m ready.”

“David can punch hard and we’re working on his speed right now. He’s a little bit slower than Joel, but he’s in great condition right now,” said co-trainer Mario Santamaría while supervising the intense sparring session that the Nicaragua-born had with boxing sensation Joel Julio on Saturday, April 5, at 12:00 PM.
