New foe for Yan Barthelemy

ARENA’s unbeaten bantamweight phenomenon Yan Barthelemy will face Jose Garcia Bernal instead of Pedro Rincon Miranda this Saturday on the undercard of the light heavyweight world championship doubleheader headlined by the Antonio Tarver-Clinton Woods IBO-IBF title unification fight and Chad Dawson’s WBC title defence against former world champion Glen Johnson at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. Experienced Garcia Bernal has won 27 out of 38 pro-fights including 18 stoppages. Barthelemy is going into the fight with a record of five wins in as many pro-fights..

“I don’t care much about my opponent”, states Barthelemy. “I am very well prepared and I just feel great.”

His trainer Roberto Quesada is as confident as his protégé: “There’s no doubt that Yan is a future world champion. He trains very hard and is very focused and dedicated to become the best. In addition to that he’s an extraordinary talent with great movement and an excellent technique.”

ARENA-CEO Ahmet Öner is on his way to Florida to watch the lightest one of his Cuban “golden boys”. “Of course, I’m always there to support my fighters and to see how they are doing. I like to watch Yan fight. He might not fight as spectacular as Gamboa but his style is a feast for the eyes of every boxing fan. I am sure that he will make his way to the top very fast.”

The Tarver-Woods / Dawson-Johnson light heavyweight title doubleheader is promoted by ARENA-partner Gary Shaw Productions, LLC and AT Entertainment, in association with Fight Academy. SHOWTIME will broadcast both fights live at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast).
