Latest News ... Johnny Nelson

14.11.03 - By Spud Woollatt: Latest News ... Johnny Nelson - British Eastside were fortunate enough to speak to Johnny Nelson who is staying in a hotel in Bayreuth, Germany prior to defending his WBO Cruiserweight Title against Germany's Alexander Pektovic. Firstly Johnny informed Eastsideboxing how the weigh in went today (Johnny Nelson 13st 7 3/4lbs, Alexander Pektovic 13st 6lbs), Johnny Nelson stated "The hotel is very good Spud, in fact surprisingly good, however I havn't and won't sample the food until after the fight as I have brought my own".

On being asked how the fight would go, Nelson stated "I feel very confident and relaxed about things especially now the weigh in is out of the way. I can honestly say I am looking forward to the fight. Pektovic is a good fighter but he simply has not fought well in my class before. I will give you an example of this, Pektovic boxed Rudiger May and apparently he was very lucky to get a draw in that fight. I have had Rudiger May over as my sparring partner and I did a very good job on him on more than one occasion".

Nelson continued by stating, "Of course the fight will be a hard one but there is nothing that I need to be overly concerned about. I just can't see this fight last ing the distance, I am convinced my class will tell in the end."

British Eastside wished Johnny Nelson all the very best for the fight tomorrow ...

"Thank You, Spud, you are welcome to ring me tomorrow after the fight and I will be happy to say a few words for Eastside. Tell everyone there I do read what they have to say, both the good and the bad!!!".
