Beyer: Infection or Detached Retina

14.11.03 - By Keith Terceira: Reports are circulating in Montreal that Markus Beyer and his camp is hiding the fact that he has a detached retina. The official take on the matter was that it is an eye infection. Media in both Germany and in Canada are beginning to report it is indeed worse. When contacted today Interbox who handles Eric Lucas confirmed that they to suspect this is true.

Jacques Theriault, Interbox PR Director expressed concern that neither the WBC or the German Promoter Wilfried Sauerland has contacted them regarding this development.

"We haven't received any info from Sauerland or the WBC" Jacques stated. "We don't know ,but we have to believe what we have been told last Sunday, that Beyer has a eye infection."

"Montreal Paper is reporting today that German TV is telling reporters that it is worse" Theriault continued.

"For sure, If Beyer is not available to box until the end of February we strongly ask for an interim fight,
Because the fight between Lucas and Beyer was supposed to be ninety days after the Green/Beyer fight, and we are way, way ,way past the ninety days now." Jacques continued that, "It should be Green because Green was guaranteed to be the next opponent of either Beyer or Lucas. Who ever was the winner."

Attempts to reach Wilfried Sauerland and the WBC on the subject went unanswered.
