Golota stops Lewis in the 6th round!
15.11.03 - By Don Cato: Former Heavyweight contender Andrew Golota, 242 (38-4 ) stopped an overweight, 256 Terrence Lewis (31-13) in the 6th round round of a scheduled 10 round bout. Golota opened the fight as he does every match by slowly moving out of his corner and throwing chopping right hands, most of which missed badly. However, this time Golota did not quit or have the fight stopped for low blows as he had against Riddick Bowe (twice), although he was penalized in the 3rd round. Golota kept the pressure on, then, with 1:30 seconds left in the 6th round, Golota brought the crowd to its feet when he cornered Lewis and landed a four punch combination that knocked him down. The final punch, a crunching right hand that hit Lewis in the back of his head.
Lewis got up immediately, but the referee wisely stepped in and stopped the fight before Lewis could suffer any further punishment. During the third round, Golota was penalized by referee Fenocchi for hitting Lewis low. After the fight resumed action, Golota stayed out of further foul problems for the remainder of the bout.
