Sande Otieno off to Brazil
WBC International Super bantamweight Champion Sande Otieno (15-0) his trainer Paul Otieno, left the country yesterday for Johannesburg, South AfricaSao Paulo Brazil, where he will put his green belt on line for the second time. This will be Sande's first mandatory defense of the WBC title he won in March last year and successfully defended in a voluntary defense in Russia in November..

Sande was presented with the National flag by Dr. Achieng Ong'ong'a, the Director of Kenya Tourism Board in a brief ceremony at Utalii Hotel in Nairobi's outskirts.
While presenting the WBC Champion with the flag the Dr. Ongonga said ' This flag you are carrying to Brazil makes you our ambassador, the victory that you achieve there will bring attention to Kenya and its potentials not only in sports, but other aspects in hospitality and tourism, or even our potential to hosts countries in their preparations for the 2010 world cup'
Sande will fight out a 12 round affair with The South American champion Carlos Oliveiras. Carlos Oliveiras whose ring name is Furacao (Portuguese for Hurricane) boasts a 22-1 record, and has promised to show Sande Otieno that Brazilians are not only good in soccer.
The WBC has named the officials for the July 11th WBC clash. Argentinean Luis Carlos Guzmßn will be the referee for the fight. He will be assisted by judges Manuel Gustavo VelÝz (Argentina), Harmodio Cede˝o (Panama) and Ricardo Smith Moya (Chile). Another Argentinean, Carlos Alberto Rodriguez (Argentina) will be the Official Supervisor of the title fight.
The fight is promoted by Mexico based Producciones Deportivas and will be held at Sao Vicente's Centro de Covencos (Convention Centre) on the evening of 11th July.
