An unprecedented event in the world history of boxing will take place on September 6th, 2008 in the heart of Moscow, in the Red Square as part of the City Day festivities under the aegis of Moscow Government - 'The Ring Stars In The Red Square', a charitable night of boxing.. The Ring Stars In The Red Square' boxing event will be seen by both Muscovites and visitors to the capital. A boxing ring will be set up in the Square with VIP seats at the ring side for VIP guests and participants of the 2008 Olympic games in Peking.

A free public entrance will enable around 25 thousand people to see the show in the flesh. The main event of the night will be broadcast live on one of the major Russian TV channels. Also, for the first time in Russia, a live Internet broadcast will be conducted during the whole program of the evening.

The undercard lists the Russian junior national boxing team which will be taking part in the 2010 Youth Olympic games in Singapore as well as the best Russian professional boxers. In the main event of the evening the WBC former world heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev of Russia will fight Robert Hawkins of the USA.

The Yuri Fedorov Sports Lab. company started its business in 2006 by producing the first WBC (the World Boxing Counsel) world heavyweight championship in Russian history between Oleg Maskaev of Russia and Peter Okhello of Uganda. The next boxing event took place in June 2007 in Moscow with Alexander Povetkin vs. Larry Donald's rating fight topping the card. The latest major boxing event produced by Yuri Fedorov Sports Lab. took place on October 13th in the new Megasport arena with the main event proclaiming the WBO world heavyweight championship between Sultan Ibragimov of Russia and Evander Holyfield of the U.S.

According to Yuri Fedorov, the decisive factor in favor of arranging the Ring Stars In The Red Square' boxing event was the address of Russian Boxing Federation President, Federal Guards Service Chief Evgeny Murov to Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov. Murov urged Luzhkov to add the event to the agenda of the City Day celebrations "to promote boxing in our country and advertise the forthcoming Amateur Boxing World Cup." Moscow hosts the tournament December 5 through 15 in Megasport complex.
