German boxing round-up: Balzsay and Inkin collide on September 27, Zbik vs. Carvalho, Murat vs. Campillo and more...

By Sebastian Swiecznik: Very good boxing cards are very rar in Germany, but on September 27 the German boxing fans will be in for a real highlight, if they decide to visit the huge Color Line Arena in Hamburg that night. Beside the Wladimir Virchis vs. Juan Carlos Gomez heavyweight clash and the WBA cruiserweight title bout between Germany’s cinderella man Firat Arslan and mandatory challenger Guillermo Jones, fightfans also get a duel among two undefeated fighters: The Ungarian Karoly Balzsay (19-0-0, 14 KO) and the Russian Denis Inkin (33-0-0, 24 KO) will clash for the WBO interim title..

Firat ArslanIn almost two weeks, on September 29, WBO #1 middleweight Sebastian Zbik (23-0-0, 9 KO) will fight WBO #13 John Anderson Carvalho (18-2-1, 11 KO) in Düsseldorf, Germany. Although he’s allready ranked on top by the WBO (and nobody knows why), Zbik should start to face some serious opponents, otherwise he will get a big realty shock by facing an elite fighter anytime soon. Right now I don’t even want to imagine what Pavlik would do to him...

On September 20, the 24 year old Karo Murat (17-0-0, 11 KO) will defend his European middleweight title against the Italian Gabrielle Campillo (16-1-0, 6 KO). Although I’ve never seen Campillo fight, I don’t think he will be a threat to the gifted Murat. The German contender nearly struggled in his last fight against the tough Italian Christian Sanavia, but there should be no doubt about his talent. He’s one of the young guns under the guidence of German trainer legend Ulli Wegner.

On the same card German cruiserweight Marco Huck (21-1-0, 16 KO) will also challenge for the European title, when he takes on the Frenchman Jean Marc Monrose (24-1-0, 15 KO). After his brutal loss to Steve Cunningham nearly 9 months ago, this fight will be a crossroads bout for Huck. Although he won his last two fights, Huck didn’t looked the same to me. Especially his last foe Frantisek Kasanic gave him some trouble (but I have to admit that Huck showed real heart in that one).
