Johnson-Henandez Added To Jones /Johnson Card

02.09.04 - Promoters Square Ring, Inc. and Goossen Tutor Promotions, in association with Prize Fight Boxing and Grand Casinos Tunica, have added a second world championship bout to the fight card on September 25, 2004, at FedExForum, located at 191 Beale Street in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. The main event will be televised on HBO.

In the co-featured fight scheduled for 12 rounds, WBO jr. bantamweight world champion Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson, 44-3, with 28 knockouts, of Washington, D.C., will defend the title against Ivan "Choko" Hernandez, 19-0-1, with 12 knockouts, of Ensenada, Mexico.

Johnson, now 33 years old, is a three-time world champion and undefeated at 12-0, with 1 No Contest, in world championship fights. He previously held the IBF flyweight and jr. bantamweight world titles.

Just 21 years old, Hernandez is a four-year pro. He is preparing for this fight with trainer Ronnie Shields in Houston, Texas.

MAIN EVENT - 12 ROUNDS - IBF LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD ROY JONES JR., 49-2, 38 KOs, Pensacola, Florida, vs Champion GLEN JOHNSON, 40-9-2, 27 KOs, Miami, Florida.

More exciting bouts will be announced.
