Alex Arthur wants Cook rematch, John Murray offers Khan a way back
Scotland’s Alex Arthur admits he “didn’t exactly know what happened” as he lost his WBO super-featherweight title following a points defeat against Nicky Cook in Manchester last Saturday. The Scot now hopes that Cook will give him the chance to win back his title. Speaking on Setanta Sports News during Steve Bunce’s Boxing Hour Arthur said: “I didn’t really need to fight Nicky. I thought it would be good to go to England and to fight an Englishman. I could have chosen another opponent..

“I believe I gave Nicky a great chance and I hope Nicky can be a man and give me a chance in return.”
Arthur admits that his strategy against Cook “just didn’t sit comfortable”. And he vowed to make changes and bounce back stronger than ever.
“I’m very, very determined and focused. If you look at my title challenges I’m a man possessed. I have to be like that in every fight in the future.”
John Murray offers Khan a way back
British lightweight champion John Murray has accused Amir Khan of “trying to run before he can walk.” Khan suffered a shock 54 second knock out at the hands of Breidis Prescott in a fight Murray believes he should have been part of.
In an interview on Setanta Sports News during Steve Bunce’s Boxing Hour Murray admitted he wanted to be the one to make Khan hit the canvas.
“He fought a Colombian that nobody knew. He could have fought me and sold that place out with 18,000 people. It could have been me that did that to him.
“He’s been talking about fighting people like Ricky Hatton, who’s been established as a world class fighter for a number of years, and Floyd Mayweather. He’s not ready.”
Murray remains hopeful of fighting Khan in the near future and believes he won’t have to wait long before the 2004 Olympic silver medallist calls him out.
“I’m the British champion and he’s going to want to rebuild and start again. World titles are out of the question for him at the minute. I think there’s a good chance he’ll come looking for me now.”
