JAMES DE LA ROSA:
ďThis is going to be a good fight, I can promise you that. Coleman has a good jab and a good chin, so itís going to be exciting. He doesnít have much power, but I know heíll keep it coming.
ďColemanís a good, fast guy. Heís sparred with everyone you can think of, but weíll handle him.
ďWe want to be the aggressor because I know he wonít.
ďIím ready to go. I feel good. On Friday night, people are going to see that I can fight.
ďMy jab is good, my uppercut is good. Everything went well in training. Iíve been getting better everyday.
ďI know I can give it 10 good rounds. Iím prepared for anything.Ē
Iíve waited for this moment my whole life. This is the biggest fight Iíve ever had.
ďI donít see this kid dealing with me. Iíve done my homework and Iíve trained hard. Iím not taking anything for granted, but this kid canít beat me.
ďIíve been in with a lot of punchers, a lot of strong durable guys. Heís been in there with tomato cans.
ďHeís a young kid, so I know heís going to come out and try to be in charge. But Iím going to try to frustrate him. Iím not going to run.
ďIíll be aggressive on Friday. Iím going to use everything, everything Iíve learned.
ďIf I get hit, believe me Iím going to bite down and fight back. I have to keep it exciting because itís on SHOWTIME.
ďIím looking to get in with whoever SHOWTIME throws at me. Iím ready to fight.
ďTomorrow night is crucial for me. I know have to come out with a win and I will.
ďIíve fought a few lefties. Iíve had plenty of experience against lefties. Iím not worried.
ďIím a hooker, thatís always been my money shot. My left hook is my game.
ďI was in camp with Oscar (De La Hoya), so I canít fight better opposition than that. Iíve had hard, hard sparring. World championship sparring. Thereís no ring rust for me.
ďI learned a lot training with Oscar. He taught me some tricks. Oscar has a big left hook, which is far better than De La Rosaís left hook will ever be.
ďIíve never touched the canvas and Iíve been in the ring with all the world champions that you can think of, but Iíve never touched the floor. You better believe I wonít touch the canvas on Friday night.Ē
ďIím not feeling the pressure. Once you think like a champion you need the pressure to bring it down.
ďIím very excited. This is what Iím waiting for. Friday night in front of my hometown fans and on national TV? Itís on.
ďI just try to stay relaxed. Once the bell rings itís on.
ďI know he has some good skills and a good record, but weíre ready. Iím not going to make any mistakes in there.
ďFrom what I know, heíll try to box against me, especially after he feels my power.
ďIím prepared to go the distance, but Iíll take the opportunity to knock him out if its there.
ďSparring with Paul Williams taught me a lot. Thatís been a great experience for me.
ďI can fight guys at any size. Iíve fought guys who are 6í4íí or 6í5íí. Iím used to tall guys. Height doesnít matter to me.Ē
ďItís different fighting a southpaw, but Iíve been sparring with them nonstop. Hopefully, one big punch and Iíll have him gone in the first round. Itís different, but itís the game. Itís the boxing game.
ďIíve sparred against size and speed for southpaws. Fast guys and big guys. You name it, Iíve been in the ring with it.
ďWeíll wait and see what he does until the first round. After the first round itís our fight.
ďHe wonít be able to handle the pressure. Iíve never been knocked down.
ďThis kid has never been backed up, but heís going to be backed up on Friday night. Iíll try and fight my game, but if I have to box, Iíll have to box.
ďIím coming down in weight, so Iím hungry. But Iíve been running to help lose the pounds. I feel strong and I feel light.
ďI worked with Kelly Pavlik, Roy Jones, Iíve been training with the best. Even though Iíve been inactive in the ring doesnít mean Iíve been inactive in the gym.
ďPavlik can hit, thatís why Iím not really worried about this guy. Iíve been in there with the best.
ďIím still learning, and Iím still fresh. Whatever he lets me do, Iíll do.Ē
