"Fighting" Nordin Ben Salah shot dead in Amsterdam

21.09.04 - Amsterdam - By Mike Holland: Dutch former boxing world champion (WBU & WBA middle-weight) and boxing promotor "Fighting Nordin" Ben-Salah died in an Amsterdam hospital of several bullet wounds. He was shot on an Amsterdam street. Witnesses saw two men on a motor bike hurrying away from the crime scene. Police think it might have been a professional hit. The Dutch boxing world is devastated by this horrible news. Salah was a great boxer with a dito heart for the sport. He was due to defend the title in September this year, but the fight was postponed because he had injury problems with his arms. Ben Salah recaptured his intercontinental WBA super middleweight title in September 2003, but was more recently active as a boxing promoter.
