Shannan Taylor Has Pac Trainer In Corner For Mundine Fight

31.12.08 - By Tony Nobbs: Shannan Taylor will have the man who guided the worlds current Pound for Pound King Manny Pacquaio to his first world title in his corner on February 11 when he takes on Anthony Mundine in a ten round middleweight “title eliminator”. The Bulli Blaster” has got away from ahead of the big fight at the Woollongong Entetainment Center, spending two weeks training at Angeles City in December under American trainer Rick Staheli..

“Rick is great” Taylor, 35, said after arriving home a week before Christmas. “I will be going over again in January before coming home just prior to the fight for media. The hard work will have been done and I will just need to taper off. I respect Mundine and will have put everything into my preparation for this fight”.

“He works me off the jab and then gets me going to the body. He says Kill the body and the head will die”.

Staheli believes his new fighter will be to strong for a “weight drained” Mundine. “If Mundine makes the weight (72.57 Kg) – he is still to do it (officially) -he will not be strong enough for Shannan. I’m impressed with Shannan’s dedication. I wish I had him when he was a young man, he could have been one of the great fighters"
