César Canchila Is Available To Fight Iván Calderón in Puerto Rico

César CanchilaBy Jaime Castro-Núñez: “WBA Light Flyweight Interim Champion César Canchila is available to fight in Puerto Rico against WBO titleholder Iván Calderón.” The statement was made by Canchila’s promoter, Mr. Billy Chams, who also took the opportunity to answer publicly to PR Best Boxing’s vice president Peter Rivera. According to Rivera, who manages Iván Calderón, Chams hasn’t answered his phone calls for more than two weeks.

“Canchila is available to fight in Calderón’s backyard if it’s for the right money,” Chams said to Colombia’s newspaper El Tiempo. Chams declared that three weeks ago Rivera made an offer of U$75.000, which was immediately rejected for being too low. “I asked Rivera U$120.000, the same amount he paid to Mexican Hugo Cázares. And remember, Cázares wasn’t a champion like Canchila. Cázares was just a challenger! If Peter Rivera offers at least U$120.000 Canchila will go to Puerto Rico to defeat Calderón."

César Canchila (27-1-0) currently trains in Barranquilla for a possible match against Giovanny Segura, whom he defeated last July 26th to claim the WBA Light Flyweight interim title.
