Toney Dominates Booker!
23.09.04 - Heavyweight James Toney savagely beat Rydell Booker in a lopsided 12 round decision in their heavyweight fight on Thursday night at the Pechanga Resort in Temecula, California. Toney (68-4-2, with 43 knockouts) dominated from the very start, landing right uppercuts and stiff left jabs at will against an inexperienced Rydell Booker. Toney hurt Booker in the 8th round after he landed a flurry of punches that caused Booker to take a knee to escape the punishment. Booker was able to get up and make it out of the round, but he will probably wish he had stayed down tommorow because of the shots he took.

Booker was unable to mount much of an offense other than an occasional pot shot, as Toney was in command from the first round, landing an assortment of punches without any worry of return fire from Booker (22-1, 12 Kos). Judge Frank Garza gave every round to Toney, scoring it 120-107. Barry Druxman had it 118-108, and Marty Denkin favored Toney 117-110. Toney, 36, retained his # 1 WBC ranking.
