Juan Urango Defeats Ngoudjo, Regains IBF Title!

By Jaime Castro-Núñez: Colombia’s powerhouse Juan “Iron Twin” Urango claimed IBF’s vacant light welterweight crown tonight at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada, as he hammered at will Herman Ngoudjo of Cameroon. The bout started with Urango pressing the action and continued in round two in the same way. Ngoudjo, who backed up during most of the fight, was caught in round three with a solid left upper cut to the chin to visit the ants for the first time. Few seconds later, we visited the canvas for a second time.

The rest of the bout showed Urango trying to set up his vicious left hook to knock the opponent out, but Ngoudjo proved to have an extremely good chin. In the late rounds the “Black Panther” seemed to gain control over the fight when he connected a couple of good hands, but apparently he run out of gas as towards the end. Judges scored the contest as follows: Richard Green 118-108, Robert Hoyle 120-106 and Pasquale Procopio 116-110, all to Juan Urango, who improved his record to 21-1-1, while Herman Ngoudjo fell to 17-3-0.
