Felix Sturm Defeats Sato In A Huge Mismatch

Felix Sturm (32-2-1, 14 KOs) defended his WBA belt with a seventh round technical knockout win against Japan's Koji Sato (14-1, 13 KOs) on Saturday. Sturm was rarely tested by the previously unbeaten Sato. Unbeaten he may have been, but Sato certainly didnít belong in the same ring with Sturm. The 28-year-old from Tokyo was completely outclassed and absorbed punishment from the opening round. Sturm still failed to put down the horribly slow Japanese fighter. Referee Pabon finally stepped in to end the fight in the seventh round as the white towel was thrown in from the Japanese corner. Karoly Balzsay (21-0, 15 KOs) successfully defended his title with an eleventh round knockout over former middleweight champion Maselino Masoe (29-6, 27 KOs) on the undercard.
