Arthur Abraham vs Mahir Oral

abrham mirandaUndefeated IBF middleweight champion King Arthur Abraham will return to the ring on June 27 when he takes on Mahir Oral in Berlin´s Max-Schmeling-Halle. “I am thrilled to be fighting in Berlin again,” King Arthur (29-0, 23 KOs) said. “It is always something special to step into the ring in front of my home fans. I only have the best of memories of the Max-Schmeling-Halle.” In August 2007, he brutally knocked out Khoren Gevor in the 11th round. Now Oral (25-1, 10 KOs), who fights under the promotional banner of Arena Box Promotion, is the next in line to get a taste of the champion´s punching power. “He is a tough guy, especially physically,” Sauerland Event General Manager Chris Meyer said. “In his first world title fight, he is sure to bring his A-game. This voluntary defence will be a tough one for King Arthur.”

The three-time German boxer of the year was originally scheduled to face mandatory challenger Giovanni Lorenzo. Since no contractual agreement could be reached, the IBF sanctioned the voluntary defence during its convention in Panama City. The mandatory defence will take place in September..

“I have just had a small break since my fight in Kiel in March,” King Arthur added. “I will be in perfect shape and hope for the Berlin fans to offer me their fantastic support again.”

It will be King Arthur´s tenth title defence (the rematch against Miranda was not an official world title fight due to the increased weight limit) as he is looking for the 30th victory in as many fights. After Felix Sturm turned down a 2.5-million-euro-offer to stage a unification, Abraham is confident he will beat super-champion Kelly Pavlik later this year.
