Battle of the Veterans: Arce Vs Penalosa

By Benjie Varella – Filipino Gerry Penalosa and Mexican Jorge Arce are both ring warriors and former champions who loves moving forward never backing down to attack their opponent. That’s the trademark of the two and a boxing match between them would surely be a hit and something boxing fans would love to see. To settle the bad blood among Penalosa and Arce, it would surely be sweet if their long awaited match-up occurs before reaching the end of their career..

It can be recalled that the two almost had a fistfight right after the rematch of pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and Marco Antonio Barrera at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

It was reported that the two crossed their paths and people from the crowd made sarcastic comments, saying that the Filipino was more popular than the Mexican.

This apparently irked Arce and at that moment challenged Penalosa for a fistfight. The commotion was stopped by Goody, Penalosa’s wife who was present at that time.

This time, they now have a reason in a legal manner to settle their differences in the boxing ring. If the fight is signed by Arce’s camp, the match would serve as the main undercard for the IBF light flyweight championship between titleholder Brian Villoria and Argentine challenger Luis Alberto Lazarte in Cebu City, Philippines.

It would surely be a slugfest!
