News: Yusaf Mack; Escalante vs. Lock; Seferi vs Nagy
PHILADELPHIA (JULY 20, 2009)—This past Friday, Yusaf “Mack Attack” Mack had one of the most fulfilling days of his career and he did not even have to step in the ring to accomplish that. Mack (28-2-2, 17 KO’s and is currently ranked #6 by The WBC, #7 by the WBA, and #6 by the IBF) spent this past Friday morning and afternoon giving back to his hometown community of Philadelphia. Mack started the morning out by visiting the Education Works Program at 44th and Girard that is located in Mack’s hometown neighborhood of West Philadelphia..

Education Works is a program that enriches the lives of children, youth, and families by providing educational programs and services in communities confronting high rates of poverty and other barriers to educational achievement.
There are 17 Education Works programs spread throughout the city
Mack gave the kids a confident speech that encouraged the kids to do well in school and telling them the importance of school and education.
“It’s great to talk to these kids and they know after seeing me with my belts that if they put their mind to anything they can achieve any goal they set for themselves”, said Mack
“This stop was extra special because these are kids in my own backyard and I hope that I can be an influence for these youngsters. Education Works is a terrific program and over the coming months, I want to visit all seventeen locations.”
After Mack was done chatting up with the kids he trekked down to Magee Rehabilitation Center.
Magee Rehabilitation Center is the oldest physical rehabilitation hospital in the region which specializes in treating spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, stroke and orthopedic issues.
Mack posed for pictures with all of the patients and signed pictures in hopes of brightening up the day for these special need patients.
“These people are such an inspiration to me. They are the real fighters. To see what they have to go through really humbles me and it meant so much to me to be able to visit them and to see how receptive they were to me makes me want to train harder than ever because I want to be a bigger presence to these incredible men and woman and bring back the world Light Heavyweight championship”

Cerveza Tecate, as part of its efforts to bring the excitement of boxing directly to adult fans, presents “Friday Night Fights” this July 24 in El Paso. The program will be broadcast live on ESPNDeportes, ESPN2 and ESPN360.com
The main bout of the night will showcase Mexican Antonio Escalante (20-2-0, 13 KOs) and Detroit’s Cornelius Lock (18-3-0, 11 KOs) in ten rounds of Featherweight action.
Enthusiasts will also be thrilled by the eight-round action of Juan Velasquez (9-0-0, 5 KOs) vs. José Angel Beranza (30-12-2, 25 KOs) and Carlos Velasquez (10-0-0, 9 KOs) vs. Juan Nazario (6-1-1, 4KOs). Additionally, “Tecate Friday Night Fights” will showcase Karl Dargan vs. Lorenzo Estrada; Robert Luna vs. Manuel Bocanegra; Abraham Han vs. Brian Soto; and Saul Morales vs. Guadalupe De Leon.

Nuri Seferi to face Jozsef Nagy
Nuri “Albanian Tyson” Seferi (23-6, 16 KOs) will face former EBA super middleweight champion Jozsef Nagy (21-4, 14 Kos) from Hungary in a eight round main event on July 25th at Sports Palace in Gostivar, Macedonia.
The Swiss-based Albanian cruiserweight is going to have a big support from the home crowd because he was born and raised in Gostivar before he moved to Switzerland.
“I have nothing but respect for my opponent. For me is very important to win this fight because I want to climb the rankings and than hope for a title-shot”, Seferi said for “boxalb.com”.
His younger brother, Sefer Seferi (7-0, 6 KOs), a former three time swiss amateur champion in the havyweight division is going to face hungarian jorneyman Laszlo Racz (1-10).
