Thomas Ulrich retires

Thomas UlrichBy Damian andyZOR Markut: After a series of title shots and EBU title defenses, Thomas Ulrich of Germany has decided to hang em up for good. "Is not much sense to continue" said Ulrichs manager. Thomas Ulrich is known for fighting for the WBO and WBC Lightheavyweight titles.

Ulrich's first shot at the title came for the WBC when he faced Poland's, Tomasz Adamek in Dusseldorf, Germany. After five action packed rounds, Tomasz Adamek went on to KO Ulrich butrally in the 6th round. Ulrich did not beat the 10 count due to the Poles powerfull right hand that was thrown and which finished the fight.

Thomas Ulrich later went on to challenge the WBO Light Heavyweight champ Zsolt Erdei. The fight was dominated by the Hungarian, Zsolt Erdei, and Ulrich lost a clear UD.

Ulrich later went on to challange for a smaller title in the EBU, beating Rachid Kanfouah via a TKO in the 10th round. Ulrich later went on to defend the title sucessfully, by beating Leonardo Turchi of Italy in the first round via KO.

After that is was all downhill. In his next defense, he got KO'd in the 8th round by Ukranian Yuri Barashian. After another brutal loss, Ulrich went to fight a unknown fighter from Argentina in Mariano Plotinsky. Ulrich was KO'd in the 11th round after a pretty exciting fight.

Ulrich is known for having exciting fights with his give it all style. May the man enjoy retirement.
