Billy C & Gary Shaw Team Up to get people to put down the guns and put on the Gloves!
This past weekend the sport of boxing and the entire World lost a great man in Former World Champion, Vernon Forrest. Vernon was the victim of the gutless act of being shot to death while putting air in his tires at a gas station in Atlanta.

When EPSN.com asked for his thoughts, Forrest’s promoter Gary Shaw made the statement, “The Violence, the guns have to go. Violence belongs inside the ropes. Not outside them. It’s just senseless. Maybe Boxing ought to dedicate itself to keeping the violence inside the ropes and try to send that message out to the world.”
Talkin Boxing With Billy C’s host, Bill Calogero saw that and has officially decided to spearhead that campaign.
“I have been critical of Gary Shaw in the past, but when I read that, I thought that Gary hit the nail on the head. Boxing gets a bad rap, but the truth is, it really consists of good people and Gary’s statement made a lot of sense to me. I reached out and spoke to Gary Monday (July 27, 2009) and got his permission to take his statement and create the “Violence Inside The Ropes” Campaign and hope to help get these kids to put down the guns and pick up the gloves”, said Calogero. He added, “I think if we can get the support of everyone involved with Boxing to help spread the word that we can make a difference.
After all, if we can save one life, it will be a success.”
Billy C is looking for EVERYONE for his or her endorsement and support in hopes of making a difference.
“Every generation is remembered for something. I doubt that today’s generation wants to be remembered as the Gun-Carrying-Senseless-Death-Generation. We can help them make a change NOW that will make this World a better place to live in and make them be the generation that turned things around!”…….Billy C on the “Talkin Boxing With Billy C” radio program Tuesday July 28, 2009.
This is only the beginning. Stay tuned for more information on the “Violence Inside The Ropes” Campaign to be released soon.
