On March 28 in Miami, Oklahoma, Harry, now 31 years old, knocked out previously undefeated prospect Ronald Hearns - the son of the legendary Thomas Hearns - who was 21-0 with 17 knockouts at the time. It was an exciting fight – both fighters were knocked down in the fourth round, but Harry rallied to score knockdowns in the fifth and ninth rounds and Hearns was counted out.
In his last fight on August 7, Angulo, who is 27 years old, scored a third round TKO win in Primm, Nevada, against Gabriel Rosado of Philadelphia, who entered the ring with a record of 12-3 with 7 knockouts. Angulo, a 2004 Olympian for Mexico, overpowered Rosado in the third round – he scored three knockdowns and the fight was stopped without a count.
Banner Promotions president Art Pelullo said, “I am very pleased to announce this bout and to co-promote it with Gary Shaw, who is a long-time friend of mine. We think it’s going to be a sensational fight.
“I know that Harry will be the underdog, but he’s overcome the odds before. He’s been very dedicated in training and worked hard in the gym to take his career to another level, and that’s exactly what he’s done.
“Harry’s got the style and the determination to beat Angulo, and I’m confident that he’s going to score the biggest win of his career on November 7.”
