News: Geale/Edouard on Mundine Undercard

Former IBO middleweight champion Daniel Geale (21-1-0 KOs 13) will step into the ring against aggressive former USBA and current WBA Fedecentro middleweight champion Daniel “The Haitian Sensation” Edouard (22-2-2 KOs 13) on October 21 in Australia. Geale won the IBO title in excellent fashion by beating Daniel Dawson in December 2007. Since that win he defended the title successfully prior to losing it in a split decision to Anthony Mundine this past May. Geale utilized Edouard as a sparring partner to prepare for his last bout.. Reportedly, members from Geale’s team reached out to Edouard directly with interest in matching the two fighters. Seemingly successful the fight card will be held at the illustrious Silverdome in Prospect Tasmania, Australia.

Geale is the 2000 and 2002 Oceanian Champion, the 2002 Commonwealth Games Champion and represented Austalia in the 2000 Olympics.

Edouard, who recently signed with Roy Jones’ Square Ring, has since worked diligently on his technique and is primed to showcase his new found boxing ability and power. He hit a highlight in his career by beating highly favored highly touted Willie Gibbs via 4 round knockout on ESPN2. This fight went on to receive a Fight of the Year nomination.

In light of the impending clash between Jones Junior and newly crowned IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green in Australia, Edouard immediately called out another of Australia's best prize fighters Anthony Mundine. He is quoted as saying directly to Jones Junior after watching him defeat Jeff Lacy “Give me Mundine! I want Mundine in November! I want him now!”

The fight card promoted by Grange Old School Boxing and BOXA International will also feature a middleweight clash between aforementioned Mundine and challenger Alehandro Gustavo Falliga. Other prominent fighters on the card are light middleweight sensation Robert Medley and on the rise light heavyweight Daniel Baff.

Something else to pay attention to is that the Geale/Edouard clash is scheduled 30 days before the November 21 showdown between Jones Junior and Green. Therefore it is possible for the winner, if he doesn't suffer major cuts or injury, to face off with Mundine as the co-main event to Jones Junior/Green. Of course Mundine must be successful in beating Falliga as well. That would certainly add to the spectacle of the November 21 card and make it presumably one of the biggest if not the absolute biggest fight card in recent Australian history.
