By Per Aker Persson - October 10, Rostock, Germany: Universumīs Long Night of boxing of boxing began at 7 PM and was over at about 1.45 am when referee Juergen Langos finally called off the Dennis Boytsov - Jason Gavern fight, after four knockdowns and two standing eight counts, with the outclassed American taking the overall sixth count at 2:18 of the seventh round in a scheduled ten-rounder. Gavern was at the time of the stoppage behind on scores of 60-50, 60-51 and 60-51 but had made himself popular with the crowd with his showboating and guts. Boytsov took his time, picked his shots and outclassed his opponent for his 26th straight win..

Italian welter Phil Lo Greco won over Estonian Albert Starikov fair enough but the scoring at 80-70, 77-74 and 79-71 looked well out of line. Starikov was down in the third and had a point deducted in the eighth and final round and that made the difference.
