Solis destroys Drumond in 3 - Íner: "Now bring on either Klitschko!"

Heavyweight sensation Odlanier Solis continued his fast rise to to the top with an impressive performance against former world title challenger Carl Davis Drumond from Costa Rica. In Key West (Florida) "La Sombra" forced his opponent to quit after the third round after a one-sided bashing.

Especially at the end of round three Solis connected with hard combinations and clear shots from all angles. Drumond was clearly impressed and had no interest in continuing the fight..

"Solis once more demonstrated his determination, willpower, speed, technique and enormous talent", commented promoter Ahmet Íner in Key West. "The way Drumond retired in the corner is not what fans want to see but you have to understand the guy who was clearly worried about his health. He recognized that Solis is out of his league."

Three-time world amateur champion and 2004 Olympic gold medallist Solis showed from the opening bell that he hadn't come to the Keys for playing. "He is a mean machine", adds Íner. "Once Solis gets rolling he is very hard to stop. I was impressed by the way he kept on pushing Drumond around for the whole three rounds. With his aggressive and offensive style he is the only fighter in the world today who can be a real threat to either Klitschko."

It was the 16th win in as many pro-fight (including 12 stoppages) for the WBC international champion. Íner wants his no. 2 rated challenger to fight Ray Austin in a final eliminator next. "Vitali Klitschko had the chance to accept Solis for his next voluntary title defense", says Íner. "He chose to fight Sosnowski instead and I think tonight everybody knows why. Solis is too dangerous. That's why we will do all we can to make him mandatory challenger. As soon as Odlanier gets his hands on Vitali the reign of the Ukrainian brothers will be over."
