Heath Ellis Returns on April 9 at Malvern Town Hall
By Srithar Visuasam: Rising Australian star, Heath Ellis (12-1-1, 6 KOs), headlines a seven fight card next Friday 9th April 2010 at Malvern Town Hall, Victoria, Australia, taking on Steve Maxwell (6-3, 4 KOs) in a twelve round encounter, defending his IBF Pan Pacific and WBC Asian Boxing Council welterweight titles. After the past 24 months of building his experience within the professional ranks, promoter Peter Maniatis (2009 Victorian promoter of the year) is confident Ellis has the ability to make the next step up from the local to international arena. A win over Maxwell will see him gain a top 15 ranking within the welterweight division by the WBC..

Later this year, Maniatis intends to provide Ellis’ first fight overseas. Maniatis doesn’t simply plan a no-frills overseas debut for him but states “on my recent overseas trip I have made plans if Heath is successful I will get him on a Manny Pacquiao undercard fight in America”. With Manny Pacquiao’s next fight quite possibility to be against Floyd Mayweather, this will be quite an introduction to the global stage for the Melbournian should this eventuate.
Other fights set for next Friday night include undefeated Blake Caparello (3-0, 1 KO) taking on tough Joel Casey (9-6-3, 5 KOs) and former OBPF middleweight champion Pradeep Singh (15-2-1, 8 KOs) taking on Thai Sintung Kietbusaba (11-7, 10 KOs).
Tickets for this event are still available starting at $50. First bout kicks off at 7:30pm on the night.
